Ryzen

For the past couple of months, AMD has been brushed under the mattress and has been ignored since the Skylake has been introduced. But Red fights back. In a few weeks, everything will change and tables will be turned.

AMD has decided to release a new line-up of CPU's earlier codenamed Zen and now Ryzen. It is stated that:

1. All CPU's will be overclockable.
2. CrossFire will be supported only on X370 motherboard chipsets.
3. Overclocking is supported only on motherboards with X370, X300 and B350 chipsets
4. Motherboards will many of the latest features including NVMe and DDR4 RAM.

It is hoped that Ryzen will be released by February or March. Expect the pricing to be like the FX series at the time of release. The CPU Summit Ridge with 8 cores and 16 threads was faster than an i7 6900K in tests like Blender and Handbrake.

So if you are planning to get an AMD PC, better save your money and have patience.

The AMD RX 480 is here!

GTX 1080 has been released, so AMD has responded by informing us about the RX 480.

The Radeon RX 480 can run VR-ready games but will cost $200, which is very cheap.
The GTX 970 can too achieve that but it will cost some more dollars, and at low settings.

AMD will hit the market hard with a cheap solution to Virtual Reality, and has a very, very competitive pricing. The card has 36 compute units, according to AMD, and it will have 4 GB and 8 GB GDDR5 options, unlike the GeForce 10x series which has a newer GDDR5-X. It will run AMD's much awaited Polaris architecture.

In Crossfire configuration, the dual RX 480 did manage better than a dual GTX 1080 by 3.8 FPS on Ashes of the Singularity, in the unveiling. But two RX 480's are cheaper than two GTX 1080's, and that's pretty impressive.

AMD did not inform us that two 480's will cost you 300 Watts - 150 Units more, so that retains the fact that AMD is not for power-conscious users.

Conclusion: AMD is definitely going to hit the wallet less than NVIDIA but will hit more on your bills. Please comment your opinions and don't forget to follow me on Twitter @TechRatul. Do subscribe to my YouTube channel RatulsTech, there will be some serious tech coming up!

Happy National Technology Day!

So, today is the National Technology Day of India, celebrated since 1999.
We Indians have progressed so much in Technology that the Pentium chip we all use today was made by Vinod Dham, an Indian. We could have progressed more if we were not invaded by the Turks, maybe would have invented computers before the Americans!

Here is a video that will show you a lot about this day! We Indians can feel proud of ourselves through this video.

Should you build a PC or get a console?

I may have discussed it before, but let's do it once again.

PCs versus Consoles, this topic has been raging forever. PCs are electronic equipments that can do many things like checking e-mail, watching videos, playing games, editing movies, listening to movies, etc. They don't really have a specific function.
On the contrary consoles can just play games and nothing else. They are for people who don't care about maintenance and want to plop down on their couch and play games at the greatest graphics.
PCs are a lot customizable. You can make them tailored for a specific game. They are also very easy to build. You can sometimes get them for cheaper than a console. You can even spend some more money and get a future-proof PC but consoles are future-proof to some extent. PCs come in all shapes and sizes.
If you want to achieve some good gameplay, then build a PC. If you are a really lazy bum, then get a console. If you don't want to do the work of building a PC, then you can ask me (India only).
